A course designed to help students gain the knowledge needed to compete successfully as a freelance professional in today’s competitive art market. Areas covered include creating self-promotional pieces, writing and understanding contracts, copyrights, work for hire, and networking. Studio development and preparing a portfolio and/or web site will also be covered.

Instructor: Michael Donato
This is a required course for all 3rd year Fine Artists, Illustrators, and Graphic Artists but is also open to 2nd year students. A major part of this course will be the students proposal of an independent studies project that will constitute a body of work in the medium and discipline of their choice which will be used as a portfolio. Emphasis is on promotion and presentation of work. Completed projects will be presented to the faculty and fellow students at the end of the year.
