Covers basic tools and more advanced features of the program including filters and masks, creating and altering patterns, and more to create logos, and other two-dimensional art. Illustrator is also used as a powerful Fine Art & Illustration tool. Various line techniques, access to almost any color imaginable and textures are also explored.

A course designed to help students gain the knowledge needed to compete successfully as a freelance professional in today’s competitive art market. Areas covered include creating self-promotional pieces, writing and understanding contracts, copyrights, work for hire, and networking. Studio development and preparing a portfolio and/or web site will also be covered.

A mandatory two-semester studio that encourages development of fundamental design skills as they relate to the profession. Included are introductions to composition, typography, logic of design, photo shoot menagement and the elements of the printing process. Open to second and third year students. Transfer candidates will be considered based upon previous studies in art.

An advanced application of the principals learned inĀ Graphic Design Studio Practices I given at a level to satisfy career requirements. Projects will include multi-page publications as well as development of advanced design concepts, client management, and basic business practices. Second semester focuses on real-life representations to off campus professionals and individual portfolio development. Open to third year students only.
