The art of Illustration, so widely used in books and magazines, is also used in advertising, television and in promotional material for agencies and studios. A highly competitive major, illustration requires the development of strong skills in drawing and painting in a variety of media and techniques. The student will be encouraged to develop the technical and conceptual skills necessary to prepare professional quality portfolio samples needed to embark on a career as an illustrator. The prescribed program includes drawing, painting, composition, life drawing and courses in computer technology and digital illustration. The creative and technical skills acquired and developed in the illustration program will enable graduates to work as entry level illustrators for magazines, books, editorial illustration, advertising, posters, and institutional illustration.
