The objective of the Fine Art Program is to provide the student with the opportunity to study in a wide variety of media and techniques. The development of perception and conceptual skills in order to express an artistic idea based on personal experience is emphasized throughout this program. Students move from introductory to advanced level courses in drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, silkscreen, sculpture and stained glass and may choose to concentrate in one or more of these areas.
A graduate in the fine art program will have the necessary skills to begin a career as a fine artist and work at an entry level in a gallery, frame shop, or stained glass studio, or as an artist’s assistant, fine art instructor, or portrait artist. The fine art program at duCret may also serve as an excellent stepping stone for those interested in continuing their studies at an advanced level.
