THE ART ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAM
The Art Entrepreneur Program is a [F/T] or [P/T] professional career education [CERTIFICATE] program designed for individuals who desire to become employable artists or art entrepreneurs. The program trains artists to:
1) Develop and Master Foundation Skills in the Visual Arts Field
2) Harness and Focus Talent into Commercially Viable Product Lines
3) Create Effective Branding and Marketing Plans to Foster Financial Sustainability in Chosen Mediums
The instructors at duCret are 'actively working' art professionals; adept and proven in their fields of expertise. Professional Artist to Emerging Artist Mentoring provided by duCret, may be just the ticket for artistically talented, graduated high school teens who can't envision themselves in another four year educative environment (such as college), studying subject matter not directly related to their heart's desires. The duCret School of Art can also be a second chance avenue for floundering college drop-outs. The school provides F/T and P/T Certificate Programs and a Class-at-a-Time Continuing Education Program for adults.
THE F/T ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAM DESIGN
YEAR 1 - FOUNDATION SKILLS
The Foundation Year is required for a student to enter advanced study in one of the three major programs offered by duCret. It consists of an in-depth exploration of the visual arts mediums, techniques, ideas and vocabulary used by art industry pros. Although the work in each chosen major involves specialized courses, the same basic principles of art apply throughout. The Foundation Year provides these basic principles, giving a solid background in art fundamentals and techniques upon which a career as a professional artist is based. The conceptual and visual skills that are developed in the Foundation Year prepare students for advanced study in their chosen major.
CHOICES OF MAJOR:
YEAR 2 - SIGNATURE & COLLECTIONS
In Year Two, students advance to an intermediate level of fine art skills, while focus is placed on creating a unique identity in one's chosen mediums. Emphasis is placed on exploring one's place in the world, so as to determine a 'signature style', to identify world purpose and create a cohesive brand style. This is parlayed into the production of a series, brand or collection. Development of product lines from thumbnail concepts to completed works ready for marketing is the main focus. Students are required to produce finished pieces, with a strong emphasis on 'quality design, polished works and professionally finished products in all 3D specialty areas. Portfolio development begins at this level.
YEAR 3 - BRANDING & BUSINESS OF ART
In Year Three, students learn all aspects of the business end of the art field, including: collection(s) completion, copyrights & legal terminology, product pricing, packaging, logo creation, and marketing of final product via web development, business cards and social media. Portfolio completion of all collections created is required. Throughout all three years, students must participate in a total of six (6) live shows; that culminate in a live final presentation that is made before the faculty and student body. Students must demonstrate an ability to clearly and verbally define their mission, world purpose and express an explicit business plan for the pursuance of their career goals after graduation.
THE P/T ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAM
Individuals seeking to study at duCret have the option to apply for a Part Time [CERTIFICATE] Program. This program takes approximately six (6) to eight (8) years to complete and is similar in structure to the Full Time Program. This educative plan is excellent for those who are working part time, or need a longer span of time for study, due to their current lifestyles. Part Time students are also eligible to qualify for financial aid.
What Happens After Graduation?
Although personal business viability and sustainability is up to each graduating artist to uphold, all are welcome to continue to use the campus facilities and may partake in future community shows and events via The duCret Art Center. As graduates, students will have already successfully participated as featured artists in a minimum of six exhibits (a requirement for graduation), and thus, each has been naturally, well integrated into the center's abundant activity programs and shows. This provides a seamless continuance of the stable supportive environment that the student experienced while in class. Graduates are invited to continue using the facilities where they have created long term bonds with their teacher/mentors. duCret alumni continue partake in the center's events, decades after graduation.

A single class must be paid in full before it begins. For more than three classes per semester, individuals can inquire about a payment plan. Call 908.757.7171 to schedule a financial appointment Mon - Fri, 9 am - 4 pm. duCret offers an E-Z payment option plan.
E-Z STEPS TO APPLY
STEP 2 - F/T applicants will receive a letter scheduling an interview with a designated Admissions Rep to Director. Bring with you: a portfolio or at least 3 to 8 samples of your best and most recent artwork.
STEP 3 - Prior to enrollment, applicants will be guided through the final enrollment steps with the school's Bursar, including a financial tuition payment plan. A first year student's curriculum is pre-mapped by the school.
