CLAY TRANSFORMATION GESTALT
A Sculptural Performance of Change by Simon Keller
Premiere @ MGalleries, June 3, 2017 - 7 PM – 8 PM
67 E Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882
An object, it’s form or design we create, purchase and use is commonly defined by a limited set of finite points of reference. By nature, these objects are measurable, quantifiable and subject to requirements of technical & functional usefulness, purpose, taste, reason and intent. Gestalt is not. Instead it reaches far beyond and is indeed infinite in its multiplicity of reference points. Gestalt follows the flow of materials and expresses their unique inherited properties. Certain variations recur naturally, but only to be abandoned in the process of change for the other, the novel. Contact: Simon Keller, Studio Honoo 炎 / p: 908-477-4690, email: [email protected]
Joan Arbeiter Exhibit

Friends and Neighbors, a solo show of life-size paintings and drawings by painter and past duCret instructor of 30+ yrs, Joan Arbeiter. The show has been extended to May 13, 2017 and is in view at the Metuchen Public Library.
Artist Statement: I am very pleased to have this opportunity to introduce you to some of my friends and neighbors who have been willing to sit for their portraits. During sessions we would exchange stories. With their permission, I began to tape record our conversations and later edited and wrote them into the back-ground space. You are invited to “meet” these interesting people and “listen in.” My intention is to convey the humanity of my subject, using technique and media expressively. - Joan

Manhattan’s Metropolis Gallery will be opening its new show, “Greg Hildebrandt: A Retrospective,” on Friday, October 7, adding another item to every New York Comic Con attendee’s can’t-miss list. This is the first retrospective for Hildebrandt, who with his late brother, Tim, is among the most revered fantasy and science fiction artists of the last fifty years. Not only will the show include some of their coveted Tolkien paintings that have never been shown before, the artist will attend the opening reception, to be held Friday from 6-10 pm.
“I did not choose art. Art chose me,” says Hildebrandt. “This retrospective is about my never-ending passion for creating art. Creating, for me, is the exploration of other worlds both in and out of my imagination.” This exhibit will showcase upwards of 50 paintings for viewing and sale, including some never before available.
Hildebrandt’s work continues to rise in value, with key pieces selling for as much as $150,000 each. Join duCret Instructor Mark Romanoski, who is currently working with Greg at the event!
