Basic techniques, materials and methods for fundamental silkscreen.
Areas covered include: block out, film screen with both opaque
and transparent color, and photo screen. Advanced class will
stress the use of multi-color silkscreen techniques including:
five color transparent or opaque printing using various methods,
also experimenting with photo techniques and shirt printing.

Advanced water color painting techniques with an emphasis
on personal growth and development through independent projects.
The course will involve demonstrations and discussions, as
well as critiques aimed toward the development of personal
style.

Intermediate-Advanced
level will cover professional facila and eye enhancements
to the next level. Learn the Automate features for custom
package printing, batch processing, PDF slideshows and photostitch
panoramas, advanced layer masking and layer sets, custom
brushes, textures and patterns. Create personal PR & marketing
piece montages. Learn how to create beautiful watercolor & pencil
sketch looking works of art with this very powerful program.
Students will be given CD's with lesson image files including
special disk of custom actions, brushes, styles, presets,
PDF tutorial documents etc. A digital projector is used for
all classes so all students can see the same demonstration
at the same time.

overview of today's field of art and the range of possibilities

introduce the student to the major art history and design

SEQUENTIAL ART

Prerequisite (or currently taking) Animation and/or Fantasy art. A mostly independent
study, the class will have lectures, assignments and critiques by the instructor.
This course will concentrate on developing a sequence of drawings in consecutive
order to tell a story. Objectives learned in this class can apply to animation,
gaming and comic book art.
JEWELRY DESIGN

Basic design and fabrication of jewelry in sterling silver with semi-precious
gem stones. The course will cover use of hand tools, sawing, filing, soldering,
drilling, polishing, assembling rings and pendants with bezel and prong settings.
Shop safety and use of torches, polishing machines, ultrasonic and steam cleaning
will be covered.
WATERCOLOR

of forms in their three dimensions and recording or translating such form accurately
to the two dimensional limitations of the flat drawing surface, composing both
the positive and negative spaces.
GRAPHIC STUDIO PRACTICES

Developed specifically for Graphic Art and Commercial Art students, this course
of study works in concert with the Digital Pre-Press class in order to provide
experience in handling true-to-life projects which are designed from production,
then handed over to the Digital Pre-Press class to bring to press status. The
two classes work together to produce the final projects. Included are fundamental
proposal and contract writing, project planning, photo-shoot management, and
printer relationships. This program is open to 2nd and 3rd year students only
and runs for 2 semesters.

Storyboards, comic books and fantasy illustration. Learn the rudiments of the creative process from concept to visual storytelling. A retrospective of classic films from the 1950's through the 1990's will provide the basis for discussion on how to improve and infuse your own conceptual storytelling and illustration.

the potter's wheel. Centering, opening, and raising clay are
covered as well as trimming, joining and glazing techniques.
Weekly demos introduce and reinforce a variety of approaches.

Oil painting techniques will be coverd including color mixing, paint application, blocking in the composition, and knowledge of care of materials and equipment. Projects will include still live, portrait from observation, and landscapes using photos as reference.
